Type IIR surgical masks are barrier masks, i.e. they are additionally resistant to seepage, which guarantee the safety of medical personnel against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious fluids. The letter “R” next to the mask type means that the masks are resistant to liquids, thus providing a higher level of protection than a type II mask.
For example – in the operating room or doctor’s offices, type II masks, made of three layers of polypropylene nonwoven, have been used for many years. Their degree of bacterial filtration is at least 98% (ie BFE ≥ 98%). As a result, they provide optimal protection against infections by airborne droplets for both the doctor and the patient, and allow free breathing.
The offered mask is of European production, fully meeting the European Standard 14683. In order to ensure effective protection for users, this standard imposes strict standards for surgical masks. It specifies design and operational requirements as well as methods of testing masks. During compliance tests, several dozen parameters are tested, assessing the effectiveness of bacterial filtration (the so-called BFE coefficient, which is given in “%”), which is measured in both directions, the pressure difference to measure breathing resistance and resistance to leakage. The less bacteria permeated, the higher the performance of the mask.
Type II and IIR masks with 3-ply non-woven fabric offer high antimicrobial and antiviral protection, provided they are used for a limited time and changed regularly. In times of the SARS-Covid19 pandemic, the use of type II and IIR masks is recommended as they provide protection for doctors.
The masks are made of the following 3 layers:
The masks are originally closed in a practical box (cardboard box), which allows for convenient storage and hygienic dosing.
The surgical mask with elastic bands fits perfectly and perfectly adheres to every face, and additionally putting it on or taking it off is very simple and takes only a few seconds. Each mask also has a special profiling (so-called harmonica), enabling a close fit to the face, and at the height of the nose there is a stiffener (usually a wire), which allows the mask to be adjusted at the height and any shape of the nose.
